Balloon Columns & Helium Bouquets for the Kean NJCU Undergraduate Open House in Jersey City, NJ

On Saturday, October 17, 2026, Kean NJCU opened its doors to future students for its Undergraduate Open House in Jersey City, and our team was on campus early to set the scene. We filled a classroom with spiral balloon columns topped with gold foil stars and lined the main event hall with rows of helium balloon bouquets, all in school colors, so the room felt like a celebration when families walked in.

The brief: a welcoming, school-spirit open house

An open house is a first impression. Prospective students and their parents are touring buildings, sitting through info sessions and picturing themselves on campus. Kean NJCU wanted spaces that felt bright, welcoming and unmistakably theirs. That meant big, colorful décor in the university palette that could go up fast on a Saturday morning, stay standing all day and leave plenty of room for chairs, tables and foot traffic.

We worked in four colors: navy blue, forest green, bright yellow and white. Every piece used the same mix, so the classroom and the event hall looked like one coordinated event.

Balloon columns with gold foil stars

The classroom got the showpiece: a row of tall balloon columns, each built as a four-color spiral of latex balloons on a flat white base plate. We finished every column with a jumbo rose-gold foil star (and a couple of bright gold ones for contrast), which added height and shine and quietly carried a “future stars” message for incoming students.

Balloon columns are one of our favorite choices for schools and universities. They take up only a small square of floor, so they fit between desks and along walls. They can be lined up to frame a room or a hallway, and they read clearly from across a crowded space. Because each column stands on its own weighted base, we can place them right where the room needs them.

For the larger hall, a beautiful room with tall windows, stained glass and a hanging pendant light, we went with volume. We filled the front of the room with rows of helium balloon bouquets in the same navy, green, yellow and white mix, plus a few all-white clusters to soften the edges. Together the bouquets formed a full, floating wall of color behind the speaker area, while the seating stayed open.

Each bouquet is hand-tied with matching curling ribbon and held down by a metallic balloon weight, so the clusters stay exactly where we place them, even with doors opening and guests moving through all day.

Frequently asked questions

Can you match our school colors exactly?

Yes. We stock a wide range of latex and foil shades and will pick the closest match to your official colors. Browse our balloon color chart or send us your brand guide.

How early can you set up on a weekend?

We set up early on Saturdays and Sundays all the time, so everything is ready before guests arrive. Let us know your doors-open time and any building access rules, and we’ll plan around them.

Balloon columns or helium bouquets: which is right for my event?

Columns are best for framing entrances, stages and walkways, and they stay in shape for days. Helium bouquets give fast, high-impact color across a big room and work well behind seating or along walls. Many events, like this one, use both. Our guide to choosing an arch, column, wall or sculpture covers the options.
